Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ is designed to help you understand how restoration projects work and what to expect when restoring or customizing a classic vehicle. Restoration is very different from modern automotive repair, and clear expectations up front lead to a better experience for everyone.

Hot Rod Corner is a classic and custom vehicle restoration and customization shop. We specialize in returning vehicles to a restored, rebuilt, or reimagined condition—often beyond factory original.

Our services commonly include:

  • Full restorations
  • Frame-up and body-off builds
  • Rust and corrosion repair
  • Structural and safety-related metal work
  • Custom metal fabrication
  • Panel replacement and fitment
  • Fiberglass repair and modification
  • Custom wiring and electrical systems
  • Paint, refinishing, and final assembly
  • Correction of prior restoration or modification work

When our restoration schedule allows, we may also accept select, non-maintenance repair work on classic or custom vehicles. These repairs are evaluated case by case and must align with our restoration-focused workflow.

Every project—restoration or limited repair—is approached with the same standards of craftsmanship, safety, and long-term integrity.

No. Hot Rod Corner is not a general repair or maintenance shop. We do not perform:

  • Routine maintenance (oil changes, tune-ups, brakes, diagnostics, etc.)
  • Quick-turn repairs or temporary fixes
  • Ongoing mechanical upkeep

Limited, non-maintenance repairs may be accepted if time allows, but these are evaluated case by case and are not guaranteed.

Restoration includes any work required to repair, rebuild, or improve an older or custom vehicle beyond basic repair. This may involve disassembly, fabrication, structural correction, and reassembly to ensure long-term integrity, safety, and craftsmanship.

Because of a vehicle’s age and history, restoration work is often exploratory. Each vehicle reveals its true condition as work progresses.

Repair focuses on correcting a single issue so a vehicle can return to the road quickly.

Restoration and customization focus on:

  • Long-term structural integrity
  • Proper fit, finish, and function
  • Correcting age-related deterioration
  • Addressing root causes—not surface symptoms
  • Preserving or improving craftsmanship

Even when performing limited repairs, we approach the work with a restoration mindset. We don’t patch problems—we address them correctly so the vehicle can be enjoyed safely and confidently.

In most cases, no. What appears to be a small issue on a classic or custom vehicle is often connected to surrounding materials, structure, or prior work. Addressing only part of the problem can compromise safety, fit, or longevity.

In certain cases, and when our schedule allows, we may accept select, isolated repairs that align with our restoration standards. These are evaluated individually and are not guaranteed.

Our services are best suited for owners who want their vehicle restored or thoughtfully customized, not temporarily repaired or maintained.

Classic and custom vehicles were not built with modern repair standards, replacement part availability, or standardized procedures. Many parts must be repaired, modified, or fabricated by hand.

Previous repairs, undocumented modifications, and age-related deterioration all affect how work must be approached. No two projects are ever identical.

Many conditions cannot be identified until disassembly begins. Common discoveries include:

  • Hidden rust or corrosion
  • Metal fatigue or cracking
  • Improper or non-factory repairs
  • Structural deterioration
  • Undocumented modifications

When additional work is identified, we communicate findings and discuss options before moving forward.

Quality restoration requires careful disassembly, precision fitment, custom fabrication, and methodical reassembly. Rushing the process compromises safety, quality, and long-term durability.

Our priority is doing the work correctly—not quickly.

Yes. Communication is an essential part of our process. As the project progresses, we provide updates, review discoveries, and confirm direction before advancing into new stages of work.

Written approvals help keep expectations clear and aligned.

For restoration and customization projects, Hot Rod Corner strongly prefers to source parts on the customer’s behalf. This allows us to verify correct fit, compatibility, quality, and suitability for the specific build before installation begins.

Classic and custom vehicles often require modification, adjustment, or fabrication for proper fit. Parts that appear correct on paper may not meet the needs of the project once mock-up and fitment begin.

If a customer chooses to supply their own parts or materials:

  • We cannot guarantee that those parts will be usable or installed
  • Parts may require modification, replacement, or substitution to achieve proper fit, function, and finish
  • Labor associated with test fitting, modification, removal, or replacement is not covered under warranty
  • If customer-supplied parts are defective or incompatible, they may be excluded from the build

Our goal is to ensure the best possible outcome for your vehicle. Sourcing parts ourselves helps reduce delays, fitment issues, and compromises in craftsmanship.

Written authorizations protect both you and us by ensuring:

  • A clearly defined scope of work
  • Clear project direction
  • Transparency throughout the process
  • A documented record of approvals

This helps prevent misunderstandings and ensures your vehicle is restored the way you intend.

We believe classic and custom vehicles deserve craftsmanship, integrity, and respect. Our focus is on safety, quality, and long-term satisfaction—not shortcuts.

Every build reflects our reputation and your trust.
